OUR STORY
Hi! We’re Nadja and Anton, the couple behind Matcha Maps — your go-to collection of curated Google Maps for exploring Japan.
Our love for Japan began years ago, and since then, we’ve traveled there multiple times — from the neon streets of Tokyo to quiet mountain towns around Fuji. Each trip left us with countless hidden gems: cozy matcha cafés, ramen spots that locals swear by, and peaceful temples far from the crowds.
Back home, we live in Düsseldorf, Germany, right next to Little Tokyo — Central Europe’s largest Japanese community. Surrounded by Japanese culture, food, and design, we’re constantly inspired to bring that authentic feeling to travelers around the world.
Whether you’re planning your first Japan trip or your fifth, we hope our maps help you discover the country’s magic, one pin at a time.
Matcha Maps was born from a simple idea: to make exploring Japan easier, more local, and more delicious. Every map is filled with handpicked recommendations — places we love and experiences we’d share with friends.
WHY WE STARTED MATCHA MAPS
“We started Matcha Maps to make traveling Japan easier, more authentic, and more inclusive — especially for people who are vegan, gluten-free, or simply tired of following the same crowded routes.”
